Congressman Jeff Van Drew will host a field hearing in Mays Landing on Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. to investigate surging electric bills in South Jersey.
Some residents in the area have reported increases of up to 400 percent, according to a news release by Van Drew's office.
Van Drew and other members of Congress will listen to testimony from community leaders and energy policy experts to determine the causes of the rising power bills.
The hearing will also review local, state and national energy policy with congressional representatives from across the country participating.
