Volunteers Needed For Ocean City's After Prom Celebration

After Prom-goers enjoy games throughout the evening.

  • News
The Ocean City After Prom Committee will be hosting its annual drug- and alcohol-free party for Ocean City High School students on Saturday, May 18, according to a news release. Volunteers are needed for setup, chaperoning and cleanup. This year's theme is "Enchanted Forest," and volunteers have already begun working on decorations that will transform the high school into a magical space, full of games, inflatables, food, DJs, karaoke and more. The majority of funding for the event and prizes have been donated by the community and local businesses. Giveaways for students will include laptops, bikes, dorm room supplies, cash and much more. The event is sponsored by local businesses and families along with support from the city. After Prom-goers enjoy games throughout the evening. Students do not have to attend the prom to go to the after prom. It is free for all juniors and seniors and open to anyone else with an OCHS prom ticket. Doors open at 9:30 p.m., and students will be bused from the prom location, the Music Pier. After Prom is a tradition started by local parents and the Board of Education members over 30 years ago to prevent drinking and driving on prom night. Under the direction of new co-chairs this year, Stacie Hay and Stephanie Foglio, the committee expects over 600 students to attend. There are plenty of activities to keep students busy.
