The Ocean City Fire Department will hold a change-of-command and swearing-in ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday at Ocean City Fire Headquarters at 550 Asbury Avenue.
The new fire chief, Bernard Walker, will be sworn in during the event, a fire department tradition.
The ceremony also will include the swearing in of John Quigley Jr. as a battalion chief and Ryan Stamm as a captain.
Retiring Fire Chief James P. Smith will be honored for his 30 years of service to the department. He will participate in the change of command.
The ceremony is open to the public.
