An accident involving a personal watercraft in Corson’s Inlet in Ocean City resulted in the rider being taken to the hospital for injuries.
Authorities did not immediately disclose the rider’s name or hometown. No information was released about the extent of the rider’s injuries.
Ocean City firefighters responded to the accident in the Intracoastal Waterway near channel marker 304 at 5:48 p.m. Sunday, according to a statement released by the city.
The rider was treated at the scene by rescue crews and transported to the Corson’s Inlet State Park boat ramp with the assistance of the Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company.
Patient care was transferred to an Ocean City Fire Department ambulance and AtlantiCare paramedics, who transported the rider to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, the statement said.
The New Jersey State Police Marine Division also responded and is investigating the accident.
