The Ocean City Historical Museum is celebrating Black History Month with an exhibit on the late Dr. Roland A. Wiggins.
The exhibit is titled "The Man and His Lifetime of Music" and it highlights the achievements of Wiggins, a 1949 graduate of Ocean City High School and child prodigy who went on to become a distinguished musical educator, innovator and theorist.
His students included jazz greats John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Archie Shepp and Ysuef Lateef.
The public is invited to a free reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the museum (1735 Simpson Avenue).
The reception will include speakers who knew Wiggins and a live jazz performance.
