Members of Ocean City American Legion Post 524 traveled to Staten Island, N.Y., to present an $11,000 donation check to the Tunnels To Towers Foundation CEO and Chairman Frank Siller. The funds were raised by veteran members of Post 524, along with Squadron 524 Sons of the American Legion members and delivered in January. “This marks the second year in a row that Post 524 has contributed a check in this amount to Tunnels To Towers,” Post Commander Bob Marzulli said. Marzulli continued, “The foundation provides invaluable aid to catastrophically injured military, first responders and Gold Star Families, with 95.9 percent of all donations going directly to individuals.” Frank Siller, of Tunnels To Towers Foundation, holds an American Legion challenge coin presented to him by members of Post 524. The foundation was formed as a powerful tribute to Siller’s brother, Stephan, a New York City firefighter who sacrificed his life to help others during the 9/11 attacks. The foundation reminds people that even in the face of tragedy, there is hope through acts of kindness and generosity. In addition to the $11,000 donation check, Marzulli gave Siller an American Legion Post 524 baseball cap and a challenge coin. Challenge coins are awarded to those who have performed outstanding service and performances of duty. In this case, it is in recognition of Siller’s special humanitarian achievements. He also was presented with an honorary membership card to the post.
