Get Ready for OCTC’s Musical "Seussical Jr."

  • Ocean City

The Ocean City Theatre Company is proud to feature 36 middle school students in "Seussical Jr.," a musical journey that brings together all of Dr. Seuss's beloved characters.

Performances will take place at the Ocean City Music Pier on Friday, Aug. 23, and Saturday, Aug. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at oceancitytheatrecompany.com or 45 minutes prior to curtain on show days.

The imagination runs wild amidst the toe-tapping cornucopia of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel and R&B to funk.

For kids and parents who grew up reading Dr. Seuss's books, this musical stage show adaption of the classic stories will be fun for the whole family.

Audiences will be transported from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus while the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos.

Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers and guard an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.

Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

OCTC's production of Seussical Jr. is under the direction of Hannah Catanoso, Angie Coccuza, and Brinley Edwards.

The creative team consists of Laura Bretherick (costumes), James Hartman (set), Peggy Fotusky (scenic art), and the Ocean City Music Pier staff (audio/lighting).

Based on the works of Dr. Seuss, Seussical Jr. features a book, music, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and was conceived by Ahrens, Flaherty, and Eric Idle with music supervision/adaptation by Bryan Louiselle.

Ocean City Theatre Company's nonprofit mission is to provide the community with live theatre produced to serve its cultural and entertainment needs while enhancing and cultivating quality arts education experiences, and programming.
