Ocean City Chamber of Commerce's "Salute to Working Women" April 24

The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce announced that Beth Rubino will be the guest speaker at the “Salute to Working Women” luncheon at noon on Wednesday, April 24 at the Ocean City Yacht Club. Ocean City Police Department Detective Jennifer Elias will receive the Community Service Award and Melissa Brown, owner of Brown’s Restaurant, will receive the 2024 “Salute to Working Women” honor. The annual event celebrates the achievements and contributions of women in the workforce, providing attendees with the opportunity to hear from these esteemed industry leaders, according to a news release from the Chamber of Commerce. Former Chief People Officer for QVC Beth Rubino will share her experience and expertise. In her role at multimedia retailer QVC, Rubino played a pivotal role in shaping global human resources strategies and overseeing various operational functions. "We are honored to have Beth Rubino join us as our guest speaker for the Salute to Working Women Luncheon," said Michele Gillian, executive director of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce. "Her vast experience and leadership in the corporate world will undoubtedly inspire and empower our attendees as they continue to make strides in their own professional journey." Detective Jennifer Elias Detective Elias, a longtime law enforcement officer, will be recognized for her accomplishments in her field. She “has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to serving the community, particularly the youth of Ocean City, as a mentor and advocate,” the release reads. Brown will be honored with the “Salute to Working Women” award “for her outstanding contributions to her community and the business community,” the release states. Brown, originally from Upper Saddle River, Bergen County, has owned Brown’s Restaurant since 1995. She graduated from Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, Bergen County, and received a bachelor’s degree in restaurant and hotel management from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1992. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Ocean City in 1995. “We are very happy to honor Melissa as our 2024 Salute to Working Women,” Gillian said. “She has a passion for serving her customers and the Ocean City community. We are lucky to have her involved in our community. She certainly is deserving of this honor.”
