Broadway star Michael James Scott will sing the national anthem during Ocean City’s flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 29, outside the Ocean City Music Pier.
Scott has played the Genie in Disney’s “Aladdin” internationally, including Broadway, London, the North American Tour, and originating the role in the Australian production for which he won the prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
He’s also known for originating the role of the Minstrel on Broadway in “Something Rotten” and originating Dr. Gotswana (aka The Maggots Guy) in “The Book of Mormon.”
Scott is in town for a performance with the Ocean City Pops at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30 at the Music Pier. Tickets and more information on the show are available at

A tradition of more than 20 years, Ocean City’s Boardwalk flag-raising ceremony takes place daily at 9 a.m. through Sept. 11.
