A fire broke out at a Simpson Avenue home in Ocean City on Friday afternoon, causing serious damage to the house. No injuries were reported, according to a city news release.
Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 932 Simpson Ave. at 12:09 p.m. They found flames and smoke coming from the multi-family home.
All residents were safely evacuated, and there were no reported injuries to any fire personnel. Firefighters got the fire under control quickly and extinguished the blaze, according to the news release.
Fire companies from Marmora and Margate and the Upper Township rescue service provided mutual assistance.
The house suffered extensive damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross and the Ocean City Office of Emergency Management secured shelter for the displaced families.
