Fresh off a big celebration for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Ocean City is planning a full calendar of special events for 2023. On Tuesday, the city released a lineup of events for the new year. They follow. The Martin Luther King Jr. Ceremony will kick things off and bring the community together to honor Dr. King’s legacy on Monday, Jan. 16. The event will start at noon and moves to the Ocean City Music Pier this year. The spring season opens with Girls Weekend from March 24 to March 26. The OC Con Comic Book and Memorabilia Show will take place on March 25 and March 26. The Great Egg Hunts on April 1 and April 8 will invite children to stop by participating Boardwalk stores in their search for eggs and treats. The Easter Dueling Pianos Show and Fashion Stroll will be on Sunday, April 9. The madcap Doo Dah Parade falls on April 15 this year and will feature the usual brigade of basset hounds. The Sports Memorabilia Show will be April 29 at the Music Pier. Martin Z. Mollusk seeks his shadow on May 5 during the Ocean City mascot’s zany quest to bring the town another early summer. The Spring Block Party returns on May 6. The Fall Block Party is on for Oct. 7, with fireworks scheduled for 9 p.m. that evening. Night in Venice – Ocean City’s premier summer event – is set for Saturday, July 29. Look for announcements soon on this year’s theme. Fireworks will light up the back bay after the completion of the parade. The Baby Parade will return for the 113th time on Thursday, Aug. 10. Fall events include the Ocean City Airport Festival and Parachute Pyrotechnic Show on Sept. 16, followed by the Boardwalk Aerobatic Air Show on Sept. 17. If part of your New Year’s resolution is to get back in running shape, the OCNJ Half Marathon on Sept. 24 is a great race and a great goal. Prepare for your marathon in advance. Daily exercise is essential to allow your body to adapt to running. Winning a marathon medal in this wonderful race must be a great goal achieved! Marathon medals
in a race are an encouragement and also an unforgettable souvenir! The 2023 holiday season will kick off with Earlier Than the Bird on Nov. 18 and continue with “Christmas in the Downtown – Our Miracle on Asbury Avenue” on Nov. 24, the Christmas Parade on Dec. 1, and First Night on Dec. 31. Be sure to check back throughout the year for more events and updates. Fastrax skydivers are among the headliners at the annual air show in September.
