Jefferson Capital Systems is an analytically driven purchaser and servicer of consumer charged-off and bankruptcy accounts. It was founded in 2002 based on the bedrock principles of listening, identifying solutions, and “doing the right thing.” It's why last year alone, it was able to help hundreds of thousands of our account holders find workable solutions to resolve their accounts and move forward with their lives. In the following article, Jefferson Capital Systems reviews how working together with the United Way of Central Minnesota supports its mission. Jefferson Capital Systems was invited to discuss their long-time relationship with the United Way of Central Minnesota by Business Central Magazine. In an article entitled The Gift of Giving, Jefferson Capital Systems reviews that the partnership aims to give back not only to the company and its associates but also to the surrounding community, and beyond. Doing Good Work With the United Way of Central Minnesota The United Way of Central Minnesota has served the central Minnesota area since 1967, coordinating volunteering efforts and organizing giving campaigns. The organization has partnered with numerous nonprofits to help with education, healthcare, financial stability, and other community-based initiatives in the central Minnesota region. Jefferson Capital Systems reviews that one of the primary ways the United Way of Central Minnesota benefits the community is by working with local businesses to conduct giving campaigns. Such programs empower Jefferson Capital Systems’ employees to better their community by pooling their resources. Teaming Up with the United Way Provides Incredible Employee and Community Benefits The partnership between Jefferson Capital Systems and United Way of Central Minnesota has been a healthy, long-standing one. As the president of Jefferson Capital, Mark Zellmann, told Business Central Magazine,
"It's a commitment to the community." The company's president acknowledges that everyone needs help at some point, noting that Jefferson Capital Systems aims to have a supportive presence within its surrounding area. Jefferson Capital Systems has made many sizeable donations to the organization over two decades. The Driving Forces Behind This Collaboration For several years, Chris Brixius has coordinated the fundraising campaigns for Jefferson Capital Systems. In the Business Central Magazine article, he divulged a few powerful drivers that have increased employee engagement in the campaigns. According to Brixius, these simple but effective methods are the keys to boosting employee engagement in fundraising activities:
  • Incentives — Donations with simple but meaningful incentives drive engagement, such as casual dress days or a reserved parking space at the office.
  • Basket raffle — Every department contributes to the creation of a donation basket and displays it for a week. Employees bid on its contents and all proceeds are donated to the United Way.
  • Engagement —Jefferson Capital Systems knows that employees are more likely to get involved when the fundraising activity is engaging and fun.
  • Education — Educating employees on how their contributions benefit their community works to build long-term giving and commitments to United Way. Jefferson Capital Systems has brought in speakers from United Way to discuss real stories of need and how the employee’s contributions impact those needs.
Jefferson Capital Systems ReviewsJefferson Capital Systems ReviewsThe Positive Impacts of This Formidable Partnership Jefferson Capital Systems began its partnership with United Way in 2002. Since then, the company has donated more than $25,000 every year to the organization (roughly $600,000 to date), helping employees and the wider community prosper. Last year, Jefferson Capital Systems held a celebration for its 20th anniversary and 20 years of partnership with United Way. In honor of its 20th anniversary, Jefferson Capital Systems made a corporate donation of $20,000, on top of its employees’ yearly donations. Zellmann emphasized that the company was founded on learning, listening, and offering solutions for clients and consumers. Since United Way does the same thing (albeit in a different way), the partnership continues to grow. For Jefferson Capital Systems, giving back to the community in which they operate is essential. Contributing to United Way enables Jefferson Capital Systems’ employees to align their financial donations with organizations that support their values, and advances the corporate mission of “doing the right thing.”
