An accident Tuesday morning on Bay Avenue between a car and a moped left the moped rider with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to the Ocean City Police Department
At 7:35 a.m., both vehicles were heading north on Bay Avenue from Ninth Street. The car was making a right turn onto Eighth Street to go east when the moped left the lane of travel and entered the bicycle lane on the right shoulder, police said.
As the moped rider passed several cars that were either stopped or moving slowly on Bay Avenue, he struck the car that turned right on Eighth Street, police said.
The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries, but the moped rider sustained serious injuries and is currently at Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
The identities of the driver and the moped rider were not released by police.
