Special Weather Statement: Coastal Flood Warning

  • News
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning in effect for Ocean City from 1 p.m. Sunday through 8 p.m. Monday. The forecast calls for sustained northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and continued rain to cause widespread flooding over the next few days. A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 2 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday. A High Surf Advisory also will be in effect through Monday. Water levels are predicted to crest in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at the following times:
  • 1:57 p.m. Sunday: 6.8 feet MLW forecast
  • 2:29 a.m. Monday: 6.5 feet MLW forecast
  • 3:04 p.m. Monday: 7.2 feet MLW forecast
  • 3:43 a.m. Tuesday: 6 feet MLW forecast
  • 4:15 p.m. Tuesday: 7.1 feet MLW forecast
These predictions reflect an increase to what had been forecast earlier this weekend. Sunday’s tide prediction is categorized as “moderate,” and Monday’s approaches “major” (with the threshold at 7.3 feet MLW). Visit

Residents should be prepared to limit travel and to move vehicles to safe places well in advance of these high tides. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. Parking at all municipal parking lots will be free (though residents should be aware that access to and from these lots may be limited during peak tides). Parking also will be available at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 20 North Shore Road in Marmora (please read letter from Trinity if you take advantage of this service). The public ramp at Tennessee Avenue will be open and free of charge for anybody who would like to take their boat out of the water. Residents should secure loose items outdoors in yards and on decks. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades. For Police and Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
