Arts Center Presents "Social Listening" Forum on Jazz Vocalists Feb. 12

  • News
Dedicated to the concept of social listening and learning with discussion in a relaxed group setting, “Hear, Here! The Listening Room at the Ocean City Arts Center” presents “Jazz Vocalists – Best of the Best” on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m. The Listening Room is located in the Arts Center on the second floor of the Ocean City Community Center, 1735 Simpson Ave. The audience will explore recorded music, through unique group experiences, building a community of active listeners and lovers of music. All are invited to bring music, in any format, to share. In a culture where live performances have become increasingly more and more impersonal, the Arts Center decided to create a different kind of experience, according to a news release. The center has established a listening room where the community can share the joy of listening to recorded music from their and others’ personal collections, learning more about the music they love and/or being introduced to new music and genres. Live music will also be presented from time to time. The goal is to provide a space for a more engaged and enlightened audience. “Hear, Here! The Listening Room’s” inauguration occurred during Ocean City’s First Night celebration. The offerings changed each hour and included classical, big band, jazz and blues. In March, there will be a special presentation on jazz saxophones and in April a live concert honoring Ella Fitzgerald featuring Paula Johns. For more information, visit OCAC’s website at
