Special Weather Statement: Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Ocean City in effect from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday. A Wind Advisory also remains in effect through 3 a.m. Monday. East winds of 20 mph to 30 mph gusting to 45 mph are expected to contribute to “minor” coastal flooding. Water levels are predicted to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at 7:38 a.m. Monday. www.ocnj.us/octides to compare this prediction to other recent and historic tide levels. Residents should be prepared to move vehicles to safe places before going to bed tonight. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. Free parking is available at all municipal lots in town. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades.
