Mayor’s Message: Sept. 3

  • News
Dear Friends, I would like to thank everybody for making the summer of 2021 such a successful one. Summer is busy, fun and always too short. Please take the time to enjoy the holiday weekend with your family, friends and neighbors. Just a couple quick reminders. Once-a-week trash and recycling pickup begins on Sept. 13 (see detail). Due to the number of lifeguards returning to school and other factors, the Ocean City Beach Patrol will be working with a limited staff. Here is our list of guarded beaches for the holiday weekend. The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking information from users of the New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway as work continues to identify naturally deep water and shifting shoals. Local mariners are asked to provide information on conditions and navigational hazards. A user input form and the results of a recent survey are available here. In a call with Shore Medical Center earlier this week, doctors and hospital officials reported that COVID-19 hospitalizations are trending down at the moment. But with confirmed cases still on the rise statewide, they urged continued caution. If you’re interested in information on vaccinations or boosters, details are available here:
covid19.nj.gov. The weekend weather forecast looks spectacular. Again, I hope you all get out and enjoy all that Ocean City has to offer. Happy Labor Day. Warm regards, Mayor Jay A. Gillian
