Music Pier Shows Feature Elvis Presley Hits and Straight No Chaser

Elvis Presley’s hits will roar to life on the Ocean City Music Pier stage on Friday and Saturday in the new Broadway musical comedy “All Shook Up,” starring Ocean City Theatre Company’s High School Jr. Company. This madcap musical comedy based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” plays July 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and overflows with rock, gospel, romance and mistaken identities. The musical tells the story of a small-town girl with big dreams and the motorcycle-riding roustabout she falls for. Among the many hits that will have you jumping out of your blue suede shoes are “Love Me Tender,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog” and “It’s Now or Never.” Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased by calling 609-399-6111 or by visiting oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice. On Monday, August 2, the a cappella group Straight No Chaser takes over the stage at the Music Pier for two shows. The group has emerged as a vocal phenomenon, building a reputation as an unforgettable live act with a wide range of music and a great sense of humor. The concerts begin at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at Ticketmaster or in person at the Music Pier Box Office (by cash or check only). A week of fun also includes: Straight No Chaser will perform two shows on August 2 at the Music Pier. WEDNESDAY, JULY 28:
Ocean City’s “Wacky But Not Tacky” series of Wacky Wednesdays continues at 10:30 a.m. July 28 at the Ocean City Music Pier. The event invites families and individuals to participate in various activities and contests. This week, participants will receive a brown paper bag filled with random supplies. The mission in this “Mystery Bag” contest: create an object, sculpture or unique work of art using everything in the bag. No advance registration is required for this free family event. The popular weekly Farmers Market on the grounds of the Ocean City Tabernacle continue 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 29. The market features the best of fresh produce from local farms in the region, along with a variety of craft vendors. THURSDAY, JULY 29: Market Days entertainment and activities on downtown Asbury Avenue will run 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 29 and continue Thursday mornings through the season.
