The Ocean City School District will continue providing free meals to all students for the upcoming school year through an extended federal program, but wants to let families know the importance of completing a free/reduced application this year.
“If we continue to see a drop in applications, we miss an opportunity to provide our families with important resources,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tom Baruffi.
There are a number of extra benefits to submitting a qualifying application to participate in the program in addition to free or reduced meals, according to a press release.
Other program benefits include, but are not limited to, free/reduced college dual credit courses, Pandemic Electronic Benefits Card (P-EBT), and even free or reduced internet service.
The school district is encouraging students to fill out an application available on the OCSD website as soon as possible.
All children in households receiving benefits from NJ SNAP or NJ TANF, foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court, children participating in their school’s Head Start program, children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant, children whose household’s income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines, and children whose household income falls at or below the limits on the Federal Income chart featured on the online application are all eligible to receive free or reduced meals.
