School District Develops Community Survey in Superintendent Search

  • News
The Ocean City School District and Board of Education officially launched the search for a new district superintendent earlier this month. In addition to a web page, the board has developed a community survey that will help determine and develop the profile of the next superintendent by outlining the desired characteristics for the job, according to a school district press release Friday. As the board continues to work with Strategic Educational Advantage (SEA) consultants on creating the official application, which will be found on the web page once finalized, the survey will help narrow down candidate requirements. “We understand how important it is to ensure our applicants not only meet our requirements, but also the community's standards. That’s why this survey is so important,” Board of Education member Cecilia Gallelli-Keyes said in the release.  “Although community members are not directly choosing the new Superintendent, this gives them a voice in the final decision.” Until a new candidate has been approved, Interim Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas Baruffi will hold the post. He has served in numerous superintendent positions throughout his educational career, including superintendent of Linwood Public Schools for roughly eight years. SEA has been working closely with search committee members to expand on the recruitment process, which includes actively seeking candidates, focus groups, open house forums, and the online community survey.
