Dear Friends,
We presented our 2021-2025 capital plan to City Council last night. The plan outlines the city infrastructure improvements we can complete while maintaining responsible budgets. A copy of the presentation is available
here.
We are ready to take advantage of the trillion-dollar federal infrastructure bill and other funding sources and have been working to create shovel-ready projects eligible for this assistance. Maintaining our commitment to infrastructure improvements protects the investments our taxpayers have made in Ocean City and improves the quality of life for our citizens.
I ask you to join me again in thanking Mike DeVlieger, who stepped down as councilman last night after serving the First Ward for nine years. All of our elected officials and public servants sacrifice a lot of time and energy to work on behalf of their neighbors in Ocean City. Council is accepting applications from First Ward residents to fill Mike’s seat until the November election. More information is available
here.
The city team met this week with the design contractor for the West 17th Street flood mitigation project. Work is proceeding and we hope to advance a construction plan soon. All work will be coordinated with a water utility upgrade project.
We also met with neighbors of the Ocean City Municipal Golf Course, and we will be reconfiguring the first hole of the course to address their safety concerns.
I hope you all have a great weekend and get to enjoy time in Ocean City with family and friends.
Warm regards,
Mayor Jay A. Gillian
