An Ocean City man was sentenced Wednesday to 19 years in prison for killing his girlfriend, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief of Detectives Paul Skill announced in a press release.
On July 22, 2017, Paul Kline, 49, was charged with the death of Denise Weber, 54, also from Ocean City.
Kline pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter on Feb. 1, 2019.
In addition to the prison term, upon release, he will also be subject to five years of specialized parole, Sutherland said.
Superior Court Judge Sarah Beth Johnson presided over the sentencing.
Kline had an argument with Weber and strangled her over the weekend at the Wesley Inn on the 900 block of Wesley Avenue. Police responded to 911 reports at about 8:40 a.m., discovered the body and Kline.
Sutherland commended the work of the Ocean City Police Department, which investigated the crime, along with Chief Assistant Prosecutor Saverio Carroccia, who handled the case resulting in a substantial prison term.
“Our office and all of the counties law enforcement agencies will continue to keep our community safe and make sure that all victims of crimes receive the appropriate justice," Sutherland said in the release.
