Bayside Family Day, Vinny Curry Camp Set for Saturday

The beach and Boardwalk are highlights of every Ocean City vacation, but a new event on Saturday, June 22, will showcase the resort’s other “B:” the bay. The inaugural Bayside Family Day is planned for 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the bayfront park at Second Street and Bay Avenue. The event will feature live music, food vendors, entertainment, educational demonstrations and more. Sponsors include local businesses such as Totally Tubular Watersports, Ocean City Parasail, Jet Drive Exchange Boat & Jet Ski Club and Pirate Voyages. For more information, call 1-800-BEACHNJ.  VINNY CURRY YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP: Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Vinny Curry will hold a free one-day football camp for youth in kindergarten through eighth grade. The camp will be run noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22 on the field at Carey Stadium (Sixth Street and Boardwalk). After a year in Tampa Bay, Curry is back with the Eagles for the 2019 season. This will be his fourth Youth Football Camp. The program focuses on football fundamentals and is an opportunity for the New Jersey native to give back to the community. SURF AND SKATEBOARD DAY: Ocean City will celebrate International Surfing Day on Friday (June 21) with events catered to surfing and skateboarding. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Seventh Street Beach, free surf lessons will be available. The also will be a beach cleanup and paddle out. From 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ocean City Skate Park (Fifth Street and Asbury Avenue), skateboarding, live music, food and snacks will be on tap. International Surfing Day is celebrated on June 21. The day, held annually on or near the date of the summer solstice, is an unofficial holiday that celebrates the sport of surfing, the surfing lifestyle and the sustainability of ocean resources. ALSO COMING UP IN JUNE:  FATHER-CHILD GOLF TOURNAMENT (June 22): The Ocean City Recreation Department will sponsor a Father-Child Golf Tournament at 11 a.m. June 22 at the Ocean City Municipal Golf Course (2600 Bay Avenue). JUNE BOOK SALE (June 22): The Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library announce the June 21 and June 22 Two-Day Book Sale will be held in the atrium of the Ocean City Free Public Library.
