The Junior Raiders focus on having the players gain experience and the program prides itself on providing the highest level of safety for its players.
“Having the players love football as much as the coaches do is always the goal of the program” stated Carl Wanek, the Junior Raiders President and Varsity football coach. “We provide a positive atmosphere for players to grow athletically while the work in a team environment”.
Playing youth football gives players a headstart if they have interest in playing football in high school. Understanding the rules of the games and the basic techniques are some of the focal points that the Junior Raiders program thrives to provide its players.
“The key to any successful public high school program is its feeder system. Strong community football at the youth level is a great way to prepare for high school football by learning proper fundamentals, technique, teamwork and discipline. At Ocean City High School, we work closely with the Junior Raiders to create a bond between our program and theirs. Now is a great time to become a Junior Raider and to join the football family we’re building in Ocean City” said Kevin Smith, the head coach of the Ocean City High School football team and a parent of a player in the Junior Raiders program.
