Lucille Worley’s chili was deemed to be the best, earning her the champ’s chapeau.
Fun, fellowship and great chili was the order of the day, when St. Damien’s Parish hosted a Chili Cook-off recently.
The intimate, but competitive event brought local chili cooks together to share good times and good chili.
There were 11 entrants in all, offering chili for all tastes, from mild to extra spicy. Turkey chili, vegetarian chili, beef chili, this event had it all.
Proceeds from the event benefited the Holy Childhood Association, which assists children in need in the US and throughout the world.
“It was a great night for family fun and fellowship for all ages,” said Regina Ralston, one of the event organizers, who also praised the contribution of Sister Joelle. “Where would we be without her,” Ralston asked. “She is the best.”
When all the votes were tabulated and all the chili was consumed, Lucille Worley was crowned as the Chili Champ for 2019.
Not only did Worley receive the champion’s chef hat, she took bragging rights for the next 364 days.
