"The Flanders Supper Club 1923" Latest Amenity at O.C.’s Landmark Hotel

  • News
By TIM KELLY Ocean City’s only full-service resort hotel is constantly upgrading and adding amenities. The latest of which is one of its most innovative to date, the new Club 1923 at the Flanders.  It is in the spirit of the Flanders’ elegance of a bygone era, combined with modern conveniences of a full-service resort hotel that Club 1923 was developed. Named for the year the iconic “Jewel of the Southern Jersey Shore” first opened for business, The Flanders Hotel is set to unveil its new and exclusive private supper club on Friday September 6th. The hotel is centrally located just steps off the beach and boardwalk at 11th street. The main attraction of the new supper club will be the overall dining experience, and one unique to Ocean City. “We want to make this club a place where members will enjoy socializing with friends and family,” said Flanders Director of Hotel and Banquet Operations, Peter Voudouris.  “It is a place they can call their own.” Club 1923 will operate out of the newly renovated Emily’s Ocean Room located off the main lobby. Emily’s Ocean Room, already a favorite dining spot of hotel guests and the public, has been refurbished to reflect the atmosphere of a fine private supper club, including the room’s new centerpiece: a dramatic wall fireplace.  Voudouris said it will deliver an upscale dining experience, one that is intimate and relaxing. The Club will be open every Friday and Saturday from 5:00 – 9:30 throughout the year except for January and February. During these two months Club 1923 will be open periodically for special events currently in the planning stages. Such special events are strength of the property, known for its elegant high teas, Sunday and holiday brunches, weddings and other events large and small.  It also hosts many local business, school, community and charitable events.
The newly refurbished space just off the main lobby is home to The Flanders Hotel’s Club 1923. The supper club joins a wide range of other Flanders offerings that set it apart from other properties in town. Among these are The Shoppes at the Flanders, which carry a wide range of women’s clothing, artisan and hand-crafted jewelry as well as one-of-a-kind collectibles and antiques. The Flanders also has Divine Image, a full-service salon and day spa, Drip N Scoop, a business center with computer/printer station and internet access, fitness center, free Wi-Fi throughout the property, outdoor heated pool, banquet and conference center and more. The Flanders is an all-suites boardwalk hotel. On the upper floors, the ultra-luxurious Penthouse Suites take luxurious accommodations to the next level with their private elevators, elegant furnishings, balconies and views of the entire island. An upscale menu with nightly specials will soon be announced, he said, including the finest steaks and seafood dishes.   “We encourage members to bring guests to enjoy their dining experience with up to eight of their friends, business associates or family members,” Voudouris remarked.  The main goal of management for the club is at the same time simple and ambitious, according to Voudouris: “We aim to provide the finest culinary experience in Ocean City. Club 1923’s Membership fee is $75 initially and $25 annually after that, said Voudouris. Applications are available on-line at www.theflandershotel.com or in person at the front registration desk of the property. Voudouris said anyone with questions or desiring additional information should call Karen Bergman at 609-399-1000, extension 7888 Monday-Friday during regular business hours. An all-suites hotel, the Flanders provides plenty of room for its guests to unwind and relax.
