News
Dear Friends,Hurricane Florence remains on a track that would bring the powerful storm to the Carolinas late Thursday or early Friday. Even though it appears that Ocean City will be spared the worst of the wind, rain and storm surge, I ask all of you to continue to pay attention. Florence is a big system, and a slight turn in its path could make a big difference for Ocean City.I also ask you to join me in thoughts and prayers for all of those who are leaving their homes and evacuating ahead of this dangerous hurricane.Preparation for this storm reminds me of the Tuesday exactly 17 years ago when police, firefighters, doctors, hospitals, clergy, businesses, family, friends, neighbors and all Americans came together in the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center.
It is times like these that remind us that our small world is much better for all the men and women who are willing to sacrifice so much in the service of others.I hope you will be able to attend our 9/11 ceremony at 6 p.m. tonight. The event has been moved indoors to the Ocean City Tabernacle at 550 Wesley Avenue.I will provide more updates as Hurricane Florence approaches, and again I encourage you to monitor the track of this storm and of any others that may follow during hurricane season.Warm regards,Mayor Jay A.
