Despite a stagnant start, the Ocean City field hockey team (9-0 conference, 10-1 overall) soared by Atlantic City (2-5-1 conference, 3-6-1 overall) with a final score of 5-0.
Jaclyn Charbonneau had one goal and two assists, while Molly Reardon and Reese Bloomstead each contributed a goal and an assist. Rounding out the scoring for Ocean City was Chloe Prettyman and Nya Gilchrist, each with one goal.
Unlike previous games, Ocean City struggled to find the back of the cage in the first half. It was a 0-0 game until under two minutes remaining in the first half, when Molly Reardon scored on a pass from Reese Bloomstead.

The Red Raiders had plenty of shot opportunities but were unable to finish. Head Coach Kelsey Mitchell credited Atlantic City for playing a good, solid defense with the help of their athletic goalie.
After halftime and true to form, Ocean City turned on the offensive firepower, racking up four goals in the second half.
“It was an overall team effort today,” said Mitchell.
Four out of the five goals for Ocean City were assisted, showcasing teamwork and selfless play.
The Red Raiders will take a break from conference foes for the next two games and focus on non-conference opponents in Haddonfield and Oak Knoll.
“We want tough tests. Both are traditionally strong programs and can expose things in us. It’s a great way to figure things out before the playoffs,” Mitchell said.
Ocean City will be back in action Friday for a 4:30 p.m. start against Haddonfield and then again on Saturday against Oak Knoll at 1 p.m. Both games are scheduled on the turf stadium.
