  • News
By Maddy Vitale On Tuesday, voters will go to the polls to choose representatives to the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Ocean City Board of Education. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. In the U.S. Senate election, incumbent Democrat Bob Menendez is being challenged by Republican Bob Hugin in a hotly contested race. State Sen. Jeff Van Drew, a Democrat from Cape May County, is running against Republican congressional candidate Seth Grossman, a former Atlantic County freeholder. The candidates are vying for a seat that will become vacant with the retirement of Rep. Frank LoBiondo, a moderate Republican who has represented the 2nd Congressional District since 1995. The 2nd Congressional District represents parts of South Jersey, including Cape May County and Atlantic County. In another race, Cape May County Freeholder Leonard Desiderio, a Republican who is also the Sea Isle City mayor, is seeking his sixth term on the freeholder board. His Democratic challenger is Jeremiah Schenerman. The local school election features three candidates running unopposed for seats on the Ocean City Board of Education, including School Board Vice President Jacqueline McAlister, H. James Bauer and Suzanne A. Morgan. POLLING PLACES:  See chart of Ocean City polling places for each ward and district .
