Dear Friends,
I want you all to know that I have appointed George Savastano as interim business administrator for Ocean City. George will replace Jim Mallon while our job search continues for a permanent hire. Jim has accepted a job in the private sector, and his final day with us was today.
As the former Public Works director, current acting municipal engineer and a long-time city resident, Savastano is very familiar with Ocean City and our city team. He will continue his work as business administrator in Sea Isle City and join us under a shared services agreement. I look forward to working with George on a seamless transition and to make sure all our projects and initiatives continue uninterrupted.
I hope you will join me in thanking Jim for all he’s done and in welcoming George to the team. George can be reached at
[email protected] or through his assistant, Carol Longo, at 609-525-9285.
I am in the process of getting information on all city projects, and I will provide status updates in next Friday’s letter.
Ocean City is in the running once again for “New Jersey’s Favorite Beach” in the annual contest sponsored by the N.J. Sea Grant Consortium. We’ve won the contest four years in a row, and I encourage everybody to vote right now by
clicking here . The contest is designed “to inspire pride in and stewardship of New Jersey’s beaches.”
Ocean City’s success in this and so many other contests that are determined by popular vote is a testament to the hard work of the city team, City Council, the Tourism Development Commission, the Boardwalk and Downtown Merchants associations, local businesses, the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, volunteer groups and the entire community in making Ocean City a superior place to live, work and play.
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
