Preserving Pieces of Ocean City in Pictures

  • News
Arriving late one night from the West Coast Scott awoke the next morning to heartache. He realized that the old Ocean City, the one from his dreams, was slowly fading from his memory. The house next door was literally being eaten alive by a backhoe as the sun came up over the ocean.  That day he took on a personal mission: to photograph these old classics. In the beginning he would quickly snap a shot and move on for fear that the owner may pop out and wonder what exactly he was doing. Now, due to the collection of photos he has amassed on his Instagram Site: classicocnj , he can quickly justify his purpose.  Most homeowners are honored to be featured by Scott.  Over the years he has honed his editing skills, painstakingly removing power lines and parking meters from each shot. He creates exterior home portraits owners would proudly frame and hang above their fireplace should they be lucky enough to catch Scott’s eye. Scott, a technology consultant, is all for progress. But preserving these Ocean City gems gives lovers of the island special memories to hold on to.  Ocean City is a town steeped in family tradition, passing houses down, reminiscing about the boarding house where you once summered or the house with the breezy front porch where you first laid eyes on your girl. Sometimes you even may bike ride by to see if the old place you always swore would buy when you grew up is still standing.  Time flies, things change, and hopefully these photos will allow all our memories of Ocean City continue.  Scott’s photos were recently featured on social media by Coastal Living & he has been generous enough to share them with us.  Enjoy!
