The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will be offering an exciting array of camps and classes this spring and summer. The lineup includes programs that are designed for the students of all ages and experiences. New for 2018 is an acting workshop for adults as OCTC begins to explore a new avenue of arts education by serving the adult population of our community.
The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company prides itself on offering students the perfect balance of learning and fun while being exposed to a professional, safe and creative environment. Intro to Songwriting and Basic Piano Skills
If you haven’t written any or many songs, this course will show you an efficient, effective process for tailoring songs to express your ideas and emotions. If you have, you’ll look at your process differently, taking control of aspects of the process you may have not noticed. Participants are encouraged to attend all 6 classes. Open to students in 7
th – 12
th grade as of Spring 2018. Session begins March 20.
Improv Acting Master CLASS
Leave your script at home, and hone your performance skills through Improvisation. This Master Class will engage both the beginner and the experienced as Chrissy Hartzell of Chicago’s Second City Training Center takes you through a series of exercises that strengthen your ability to perform in the moment. This one-day class on April 7 is open to students in 6
th – 12
th grade as of Spring 2018.
Acting Antics/Creative Drama Classes - Open to students in 2nd – 6th Grade as of Spring 2018
These creative drama classes will build confidence and introduce the basics of stagecraft to kids interested in getting started on stage! Let your little one come explore theatre fundamentals in a fun, process-based workshop. Perfect for beginner/beginner-intermediate students, this class will explore stage basics, acting fundamentals, and storytelling on stage through improve games, exercises, and scenes created by director and actress, Shannon Agnew. This is a perfect opportunity to let your little one’s imagination soar in a safe and creative environment. This class is open to students in 2
nd – 6
th grade and begins on March 24.
My First Theatre
This hour-long class is the perfect way to help your little ones explore what it is like to be on stage! In this process based, fun class we will learn dances, sing songs, play games and explore our imaginations through theatre games and exercises. We will act out some of our favorite fairy tales, make crafts and get a chance to work with some costume pieces, so every student will get a chance to explore every aspect of being on stage! This class is pen to kids ages 4- 7 years old and begins on March 31.
What Happens Backstage?
If you love theatre, but don’t like to be in the spotlight, there are still so many opportunities to participate in shows! Come learn about the backstage work of directors, prop builders, scenic designers, and stage managers to see what it takes to actually put on a show. These two-hour intensives will focus on different areas of backstage work and will help you get a better idea of how much work and how many people it takes to put on a show. Open to Middle School and High School students with a start date of April 8.
Intro to Directing - Open to Current High School Students
Participants will have the opportunity to act and direct in this fun and engaging class! This four-week class will introduce students to the basics of directing through practical experience by having each student direct their own short scene. The class will culminate in an informal showcase on the final day. Session begins April 8.
Acting Workshop for Adults
Have you been wondering what it takes to perform on stage, looking to start a professional career, or just curious about acting? Whether you are signing up to improve your technique, start your theatrical journey, or hone your professional skills for audition, this master class is the perfect place to start. Each session focuses in depth on a different aspect of stagecraft and performing arts. You can attend all classes or mix and match based on your availability and interests. Session begins on March 24.
Summer Theatre Camp Session ONE
Give My Regards to Broadway
Keeping with the tradition of offering a fantastic theatre experience for youth, our annual collaboration with the City Recreation Dept returns. Casting will begin the first day of camp for a two-week rehearsal process of the musical, GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY! Celebrate Broadway musicals past and present with this entertaining production. Kids will tell the incredible history and evolution of American musical theatre with a look at a dozen hit show tunes from a century of blockbusters like "Gypsy," "Kiss Me, Kate," "My Fair Lady," "Ragtime," "The Wiz" and more! Other activities will include trips to the Music Pier morning Children’s Theatre Series, acting games, singing and movement/dance. This camp is run in partnership with the Ocean City Department of Recreation and is open to students in 3
rd – 8
th grade as of fall 2018. Camp begins on Monday, July 2.
Theatre Camp Session TWO:
The Entire AmericaN Revolution (in 40 minutes or less)
Casting will begin the first day of camp as students prepare for a rewarding theatre experience that is performance based. The show is not a musical so it is a great way to feature kids who do not like to sing/dance and allows kids who have a musical theatre background the opportunity to experience performing in a straight play! This year the participants will present The Entire AmericaN Revolution (in 40 minutes or less). You think HAMILTON is fun…wait till you see this! History has never been so fun... or so fast! Flying through the major points of America’s quest for independence, this fast-and-loose comedy plays like a highlight reel of history in hilarious fashion! Sorry, Hamilton’s busy in a different play, but your audience will both laugh and learn as they watch patriots such as George Washington, Paul Revere, Samuel and John Adams, Patrick Henry, and Benjamin Franklin battle the vain King George III and his British soldiers. From the Boston Tea Party to the Battle of Bunker Hill (Did you know it was really Breed Hill?!) to the crossing of the Delaware and onward to the British surrender at Yorktown. This camp is open to students in 3
rd – 8
th Grade as of Fall 2018 with a start date of July 16.
Theatre Camp Session THREE:
Play pretend this summer at our theatre camp specially designed for younger students in Kindergarten through 4
th Grade as of Fall 2018. Campers will tell the story "The Wind in the Willows." This camp is a wonderful introduction to drama and movement for beginners and a great way for experienced kids to learn more! Participants will enjoy fun-filled introductions to theatre fundamentals through theatre exercises, reader’s theatre scenes, crafts, and musical theatre! The camp culminates in a reader's theatre showcase of a scene from "The Wind in the Willows" on the last day of camp for family and friends to attend. Theatre Camp Three is for students in K-4 as of Fall 2018 with a start date of July 30.
MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITION BOOT CAMP
If you dream of being on a professional stage or want to audition for college musical theatre programs, this one of a kind professional preparation program is not to be missed. This five-day intensive provides you with every tool you will need to go into an audition setting with confidence. During group classes you will get individual feedback and coaching on three, contrasting, audition ready, musical cuts, and a one-minute monologue. Come learn how to pick and prepare audition material that shows off your best side, and ignites your spirit. Resume editing / creation and headshots done by a professional photographer are included in tuition. This “boot camp” is open to students in 8
th – 12
th grades as of Fall 2018 and begins on July 30.
A CHORUS LINE MASTER DANCE CLASS
Learn the original Broadway choreography from the Greater OCTC’s professional Main Stage production of “A CHORUS LINE.” This is for performers who have a serious passion for jazz and musical theatre dancing. You will not want to miss this once in a lifetime experience! Cast members from the professional company of performers will also join the dancers! This one-day class scheduled for July 8 and is open to students in 6

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE MASTER CLASS
Learn the actual Broadway style choreography from the Greater OCTC’s professional Main Stage production of “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.” This is for performers who have a serious passion for jazz and musical theatre dancing. OCTC is thrilled to present its 11
th Season of Junior Company shows since it’s debut in 2008. Youth from Ocean City and the surrounding area have the opportunity to work under a professional production staff and are exposed to a memorable theatre experience. High School students will perform in the musical LEGALLY BLONDE while Middle School students will have the chance to shine in SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN JUNIOR. Auditions will take place on May 5 or 6.
MASTER CLASS WITH MICHAEL LEE BROWN OF BROADWAY’S DEAR EVAN HANSEN
Michael Lee Brown got his start with the OCTC and now he is thrilled to be making his Broadway debut as Evan Hansen during the matinee performances of this Tony Award winning Broadway hit! Regional: Torch Song Trilogy (David, dir. Michael Kahn), Cinderella (Lionel). TV: “Happyish” (Showtime). Michael Lee Brown will be on hand to teach participants choreography/movement from Dear Evan Hansen, go over audition technique, scene work, Q&A about his Broadway experience and more This class is open to students in 6
th – 12
th grade as of Fall 2018 and is being offered twice; July 16 and August 6.
PRIVATE ACTING LESSONS for students in grades 5th-12th
Experience one-on-one private acting lessons to perfect acting technique with trained instructors who have experience working to prepare for college auditions and school auditions.
