Ocean City has released the latest update on a $7.9 million drainage project designed to reduce nuisance flooding in the north end of town within a 20-block area between Second and Eighth streets from West Avenue to the bay.
Work scheduled to be completed during the week of Sept. 4 includes restoring the curb, gutters and sidewalks on Third Street between Haven and Bay avenues.
During the same week, construction crews will begin restoring Fifth Avenue next to the Ocean City Primary School.
Drainage pipes will continue to be installed on Seventh Street from Bay Avenue to West Avenue.
The entire project will use a combination of road construction, drainage improvements and pumping stations to ease flooding in the north end neighborhoods. Construction is expected to be completed by year’s end.
