The Ocean City Food Cupboard, operated by the Ocean City Ecumenical Council, provides groceries to residents in need. Upon completing the registration at the Ocean City Social Service Office and becoming qualified, clients are eligible to receive free bags of groceries on a monthly basis.
The Food Cupboard is located in the alley behind St. Peter's United Methodist Church and is open Monday thru Friday from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. Volunteers prepare the bags for clients with donated and purchased food items. It was discovered that some clients either due to age or illness, were or have become homebound, and are no longer able to come to the Cupboard to pick up their monthly allotment.
The volunteers, recognizing a need in the community, developed a plan to create a delivery system to address the needs of the homebound. The Ocean City Ecumenical Council announces this delivery service of food items to those eligible homebound clients. There is always a need for volunteers to donate their time for this new service of home delivery. If interested, please contact Regina Ralston at (609) 399-9013.
The Ocean City Ecumenical Council is a non-profit organization whose goal is to gather food, clothing, and money to feed and clothe residents who are in need. Volunteers run and staff the Food Cupboard and the Clothes Closet both established by the Ecumenical Council. The generosity of friends, neighbors, service organizations, local businesses, and the Ocean City churches support these programs. We work to improve the quality of life for our clients.
