U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02), a senior member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, today announced $1,200,000 in federal funding for the Cape May County Fare Free Transportation Project in Cape May from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The funding comes from the Bus and Bus Facilities Competitive Grant Program. “From rebuilding our bridges to removal of the traffic lights on the Garden State Parkway, I have long sought to secure federal funding for critical transportation projects in Cape May County and across South Jersey. Today’s announcement that a new building will be constructed to house operations and management personnel in an effort to increase coordination and efficiency of bus operations across Cape May County is welcome news,” said LoBiondo. “I am pleased to secure tens of millions of dollars in federal funds for South Jersey’s infrastructure projects and will continue to be a strong advocate for the remainder of my term in Congress.” This federal funding will help with the construction of an operations building to consolidate operations and improve service. The service provides approximately 117,000 annually to residents and visitors to Cape May County. This is a DOT discretionary grant.
