Richard P. Galante “Dick”, 86 of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Spring Village in Galloway with his family by his side.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa he had been a lifelong resident of Ocean City.
Dick was a graduate of Ocean City High School class of 1948. A proud veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War from 1950 until his Honorable Discharge in 1954.
He was owner/operator of Frank Galante and Son Bricklayers in Ocean City for over 30 years and a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local # 33.
A life member of VFW Ferguson Foglio Post # 6650 and American Legion Miley Morvay Post both in Ocean City.
He was predeceased by his parents: Frank and Grace (Carwithen) Galante, two sisters and a brother: Marie Galante, Frank Galante and Grace Adamson.
Surviving are his loving wife: Edie (nee Crotto) Galante, son: Tony (Janet) Galante of Ocean City, daughter: Lori (Randy) Smith of Somers Point, four grandchildren: Michael and Joseph Galante, Carli (Tad) Mozeleski, Garrett (Ashlyn) Smith, and three great grandchildren: Adalyn and Grayson Smith and Olive Mozeleski.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Dick will be offered Friday, September 8, 2017 at 6 o’clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home, 809 Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 4 o’clock until time of service.
Burial will be private.
The Galante family would like to thank Spring Village and Grace Hospice for the care and compassion they had shown not only to Dick but to the entire family.
The family has requested memorial contributions in Dick’s name to either Alzheimers Association, South Jersey Chapter, 3 Eves Drive # 310, Marlton, NJ 08053, VFW Post # 6650, 1501 Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226 or the charily of one’s choice.
