OCHS Seniors Create Custom Bikes to Help Fight Poverty

  • News
Ocean City High School seniors, Korey Greene and Nick Oteri, are taking the bike industry by storm with their company Frankencycles. The two innovative entrepreneurs are using discarded bike frames, that were headed to landfills, and upcycling them into creative unique tall bikes. Korey Greene is the CEO and Designer. He is a self-taught welder and does all the chopping, sanding and stacking to make each custom bike come to life. With an interest in making the world a greener place and an ambition to achieve a degree in Electrical & Aerospace Engineering, Greene works tirelessly to ensure that his customers are satisfied with his newest creations. Nick Oteri is the CFO and Marketing Director. He uses his wide variety of contacts to keep a valuable supply of scrapped bikes ready to be made into masterpieces. Oteri has also used branding knowledge to produce Frankencycles apparel including t-shirts and coach jackets which they use to give back to the community. A portion of their apparel sales goes to the Robin Hood Foundation which helps fight poverty in New York City. Oteri has had the opportunity to be mentored by a Wall Street entrepreneur for over two years and was able to attend the JP Morgan Robin Hood NYC Investors Conference with him. At this conference, Oteri represented Frankencycles and presented the foundation with their $100.00 donation. Even though it might seem nerve-wracking to ride on one of these tall attention-commanding bikes, the duo promises cruising around is easier than it looks. They ensure the only instructions are to relax and enjoy the view these bikes provide. With Korey Greene and Nick Oteri at the helm of this cutting-edge business, the sky is the limit for Frankencycles.
