Primary School Teacher Randall Kohr
The Ocean City School District is proud to announce that one of its own, primary school teacher Randall Kohr, was chosen as winner of the 2017 Emerging Leader award by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Mr. Kohr will be honored in June at the ISTE 2017 Conference & Expo in San Antonio, Texas.
“Randall Kohr is one of the most talented technology teachers in the teaching profession," said Dr. Kathleen Taylor, the district’s superintendent. “As a computer science teacher, he uses best practices in technology education to establish a dynamic learning environment for his Kindergarten through third grade students. Best of all, Randy has all of his students engaged in designing and creating innovative projects using digital tools and resources to demonstrate what they know and can do.”
“I am beyond proud of the experiences and skills our students developed in the lab this year and am excited that our program, school, and district are being recognized,” said Kohr, a computer science teacher. “The ISTE conference and awards ceremony is known as the mecca of technology resources for educators and will be a great opportunity to explore emerging ideas and curriculum.”
ISTE serves educators committed to empowering connected learners in a connected world. Through its award program, ISTE showcases the inspiring accomplishments of outstanding individuals who are making a difference in education. The Emerging Leader Award honors individuals from around the world under the age of 35 who demonstrate vision, innovation, action and transformation using technology to improve learning and teaching.
“Awardees demonstrate that they’ve made an impact on students and the education community, actively share ideas and continually strive to improve their professional work. Mr. Kohr embodies these traits,” wrote Richard Culatta, chief executive officer of ISTE in a letter to the district. “Mr. Kohr will be honored for his unwavering commitment to academic achievement for all students. I’m confident Ocean City Primary School has benefited tremendously from Mr. Kohr’s contributions.”
