Ocean City residents Josh and Dana Linthicum have two children in school – Kai is currently in second grade and Keira will be in Kindergarten in the Fall. Last week they met with their local financial advisor to review their finances and strategize on a college saving plan.
“We set up 529 plans when our girls were born. But given the rising cost of college, we want to make sure that we are saving enough so our daughters will be able to attend the colleges of their choice.”
For many families, the high cost of higher education is a daunting proposition. Parents lie awake at night trying to figure out how to afford sending 1, 2, 3 or more children to college, and still have enough of their hard-earned money to be able to retire. Some families have children attending college next year, and others have 12 years to plan; but the fears of tackling these monumental and rising costs are the same.
Mark Reimet and Jodie Booth of Ocean City Financial Group have helped many Ocean City families prepare their finances for college and retirement.
“It’s never too soon to implement a savings strategy for your children’s college costs nor too late to discover ways to pay for them” suggests Reimet.
On May 10, Ocean City High School will host a free, nationally-renowned educational workshop, Little-Known Secrets of Paying for College.

- A review of the EFC (Expected Family Contribution)
