Billy Schweim from 97.3 ESPN's "The Locker Room"
By Ken Wisnefski
Recently, I had a chance to catch up with Billy Schweim, the host of "The Locker Room" on 97.3 ESPN, to get his thoughts on the upcoming NFL Draft. As an avid sports fan, I listen to a lot of Sports Talk Radio when commuting to work near Philadelphia. I can honestly say that the best host is right here in our own backyard in Billy Schweim. It was great to hear his insight in to what the Eagles will do in the NFL Draft.
Last Year the Eagles made a bold move and traded up to get their Franchise QB in Carson Wentz, do you see any sort of bold move like this happening this year?
Billy: No, I don't see the Eagles moving up. In fact, I seeing them moving down to get an additional pick. This year’s draft is loaded with CB's and running backs so moving down wouldn't surprise me.
While the Eagles have made some major improvements to their WRs, do you feel that the Eagles are in play to draft a WR early in the draft?
Billy: The Eagles have solidified their receiving corps so it wouldn't make sense to draft a WR. The only two receivers that are worth the first-round pick is John Ross from Washington or Mike Williams from Clemson. Don't think they'll be there at the 14th pick.
Christian McCaffrey’s name has been mentioned a lot as a potential fit for the Eagles as their RB solution. What are your thoughts on him and is a fit for the Eagles?
Billy: I am a HUGE Christian McCaffrey guy! That’s who I want! Gold... pure football player... Stud!
Overall, what do you think Howie Roseman and the Birds look to accomplish in the draft….
Billy: I think they can go either way. Start working on their defense by trading down and getting a CB to shore up a weakness. I like Fabian Moreau from UCLA and Ahkello Witherspoon from Colorado, they are both big, fast and has long arms and big hands. Or top off their high-powered offense and get McCaffrey. It will be interesting! If Howie and Joe Douglass can go down and get an extra pick that's what I would do. Two late 1st round early second round.
Tune in this Saturday from 10am to Noon at 97.3 ESPN to hear Billy’s re-cap of the Eagles early round picks on “The Locker Room”, you will be glad you did!
