Tartala, June S. (nee Schnabel), 83, of Petersburg, NJ died August 30, 2016 at Cape Regional Hospital.   Born June 6, 1933 in Rhawnhurst, Pennsylvania to Hilda and George Schnabel She attended Frankford High School (Class of '51) Philadelphia PA. She continued her education at Chestnut Hill School of Nursing (Class of '54) to obtain her nursing degree. She then went on to earn her BSN at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1973, she received her Master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania. June worked as a visiting nurse at the Bucks County Department of Health. She worked nights at the Philadelphia Health Institute and taught nursing at Villanova University. She married James Tartala on September 5, 1958. They were married 58 years. She is survived by her husband James, son John Tartala (Sara) and 3 daughters, Mary Belanger (Rene), Sharon Devlin (Edmund), and Kate Little (Jim), and a brother George Schnabel (Alyce). June and Jim have 14 grandchildren. June enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks on the beach in Ocean City, and cooking for her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and crafting. June and Jim travelled the world extensively. She was an active member of the AAUW, where she was president. She belonged to AARP, the Upper Township Historical Society, Ocean City Garden Club and the Jersey Cape Shell Club. There will be a Memorial Service at St. Peters Methodist Church, 501 East 8th Street, Ocean City, NJ on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service.
