John F. Vanderpool – 83 of Ocean City passed away at home on November 20, 2016
surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wofford, Kentucky on June 3, 1933, he was a
Police Lieutenant with the Ocean City Police Dept., Treasurer of the OCEFCU and a
local business owner. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years Ruth (nee Sye) Vanderpool, children John F.
Vanderpool Jr., Lois Williams, Ruth Ann Vanderpool and Nancy Harris. He was Pop-Pop to 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother
Kenneth Vanderpool and wife Liz, brother-in-law William Barnhill along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Irene Barnhill and brothers Edward and Roy.
A memorial service celebrating his life was held at the First Presbyterian Church located at 7th and Wesley in Ocean City on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 3:00pm. Intermittent will be private.
