With a mere 20-something days until Thanksgiving and the official start of the holiday season, it's time to take a moment to give thanks for the things in life that truly matter. Family, friends, good health and security.
But not everyone in Ocean City will be counting their blessings. Some will be silently struggling to give their families a magical Christmas. Whether it’s a medical or financial issue, some of our neighbors need a little extra help this season.
Local businesses like Ocean City Financial Group are stepping up to help.
“At OCFG, we believe that one of the most important investments you can make is an investment in our community,” say owner Mark Reimet and partner Jodie Booth. "So we are participating in two holiday efforts that are near and dear to our town.”
WAVES OF CARING: TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION
Waves of Caring has been collecting and distributing new toys for the children of Ocean City’s less fortunate families for over 30 years. Drop off an unwrapped, new toy or a financial donation. A $300 donation provides for a family of six children, $200 provides for four, $100 for two and a donation of $75 provides a shopping certificate for a local high school student. A donation of $50 provides for one younger child. Checks can be made out to Waves of Caring.
SHARING IS CARING: BOOK COLLECTION FOR THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF PHILADELPHIA
Give the gift of reading to children who will be in the hospital this Christmas season. Drop off a new children’s book to be gifted to young patients on the oncology floor of CHOP in memory of Hailey Parker, an 11-year old OC summer resident who lost her fight to brain cancer last October. You may also include a handwritten note or card.
Collections for both efforts will be accepted at Ocean City Financial Group’s office until
