Ocean City Board of Education Introduces New Cohesive Record-Keeping System

  • News
The Ocean City Board of Education has good news to share with the community involving the record keeping of the High School’s athletic teams. It was recently brought to the Board’s attention that there were some gaps in terms of athletic team records, specifically the former girls’ basketball team. Once the Board became aware of this situation, the Athletic Office, which is currently under the direction of Mr. Jack Pfizenmayer, began meeting with coaches who are working on generating lists of individual and career milestones for this program. They are working as quickly as possible to restore any absent data. Moving forward, Mr. Pfizenmayer, along with the head coaches, will be working to create a cohesive record-keeping system of the individual athletes and team performances to further solidify the legacy of what it is to be an Ocean City Red Raider. The process of gathering the records will involve using statistics, based on standards for each sport. These standards will reflect sport-specific individual and team accomplishments, in addition to the recorded wins and losses. Furthermore, this system will be maintained in an online database for student-athlete and coach access. The athletic programs produce many fine collegiate-ready athletes and offering them access appears the appropriate form of action. Upon completion of this process, the Board of Education will purchase new record boards for each individual sport. These record boards will be unveiled in next school year. As much of the focus has been placed on the athletic teams, the school would also like to celebrate and recognize the visual and performing arts students. Therefore, the Board of Education will be investing in record boards for these programs as well. By doing so, the tradition of long-standing excellence and inspirational success stories that exemplify persistence, hard work, and determination -in essence, an Ocean City Red Raider- will continue to be honored. Ocean City Schools strive to preserve their outstanding accomplishments throughout the years with the help of the students, staff, and community. They want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while the record-keeping system is completed to date.
