Leute, M.D. Millard S. “Moe” 90 of Ocean City, NJ passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at The Shores at Wesley Manor in Ocean City, NJ. Born in Germantown, PA, he was formerly of Havertown, PA and a resident of Ocean City, NJ year round for 26 years and a summer resident since childhood. Dr. Leute served in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviation Pilot and as Fleet Medical Officer, Commander Middle East Force in the Persian Gulf before his honorable discharge. He was a graduate of Lower Merion HS Class of 1943, Ursinus College class of 1948, Jefferson Medical School class of 1952 and Philadelphia College of Physicians. He also attended Dartmouth College from 1943-1944. He had a private family practice for 12 years in Havertown, PA and was on the staff of Bryn Mawr Hospital before becoming Medical Director at Cigna Life Insurance. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Ocean City Yacht Club where he was Fleet Surgeon, and a member of Greate Bay Country Club. Besides being an avid sailor since his youth and into his 70’s, Moe also enjoyed woodcarving, playing a round of golf with the “Swingers”, listening and dancing to jazz music, and serving as Winnie’s bridge partner. His devotion to his wife Winnie and daughters is paralleled only by his humble strength in the face of his own medical challenges over the years. Surviving are his wife, Winifred M. Leute (nee Mutchler) of Ocean City, NJ, three daughters, Linda Givens (Charles Givens, deceased) of Cape May, NJ, Beverly L. Bruce (Alan) of Scituate, MA, Nan L. Walker (Jason) of Arnold, MD, four grandchildren, Lindsay, Ryan, Chad, Hadlee, one great grandchild, Sadie, and two nephews, Tracy and Jeffrey Leute. He was predeceased by his brother William R. Leute. A Celebration of Life service will be offered Saturday morning, December 10, 2016 at 11 o’clock at The Godfrey Funeral home, 809 Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from ten o’clock until the time of service. His interment is private at the convenience of his family.
