Dear Friends,
On Tuesday, Bike OCNJ held its annual public forum on bicycling in Ocean City. The private nonprofit group is made up entirely of volunteers from the community, and I'd like to thank them for all the work they do in advocating for safe streets in Ocean City.
The forums are designed to let the public know about new bicycle-friendly amenities in Ocean City and to solicit feedback for new priorities. The information is a great resource as the city team works to make improvements.
I'm proud of the many projects the city has completed related to safer streets, and I think it's important to make accommodations for bicyclists, not only for recreation but as an easy way to get around town. I look forward to continuing to work with Bike OCNJ in the coming years.
I'd like to remind everybody about a public meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Senior Center. The purpose of the meeting is for Michael Baker International Company to discuss final plans for road and drainage improvements in the area from 26th Street to 34th Street between West Avenue and Bay Avenue.
Finally, I'd like to remind everybody that Labor Day Weekend is almost here. Get out for a Mummers Night, Family Night or any other boardwalk or downtown event before the summer is over.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
