Mayor Jay Gillian: Please Monitor Weather Conditions

  • News
Storm surf from a northeast gale covers the beaches between Ninth Street and 14th Street. The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s
weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, Oct. 2.
Dear Friends: It looks as though we have received some good news as Hurricane Joaquin is predicted to move out to sea. However, I ask everyone to closely monitor weather conditions and forecasts over the next several days. We are expecting moderate to major coastal flooding over the next several high tides, along with continued rain and high winds, so please remain cautious. Please follow the statements issued by our Office of Emergency Management. Please stay off the roads if possible. If you need to drive do not drive through flood waters. Please stay off the beach, and by all means do not go in the ocean. The high winds will continue, so please secure any loose items on decks or in yards. The most recent statement issued by the Office of Emergency Management can be found here: www.ocnj.us/OEM. The City will have guest services representatives available at (609) 399-6111 throughout the weekend. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a safe weekend. Warm regards, Jay A. Gillian Mayor
