Eight WIBG-FM 94.3 personalities were on hand at the "Wibbage" studios in Ocean City on Thursday evening to grant the wish of 16-year-old Jacob Hackett of Absecon to be on the air as a guest DJ on his favorite radio station and to be named an honorary Wibbage "Good Guy."
Hackett suffers from cerebral palsy, and the visit to the studio was a complete surprise for him as evening host Ken Shaeffer worked along with his family to make it happen.
In the studio waiting to surprise Jacob were WIBG air personalities Philly Bill Culp, Jerry Beebe, Rick Rock, Ken Shaeffer, Brett Parker and Mary Mac along with weatherman Nor'easter Nick Pitman. Not pictured, but also present, was WIBG's News Director Rick Brancadora.
"It was a great night for Jacob and his family and an equally wonderful night for all of us at Wibbage," said 10-year WIBG air personality Philly Bill Culp, who is heard every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on his Down the Shore with Philly Bill radio show. "Jacob is a wonderful young man, and he keeps in touch with all of us at Wibbage either by phone or email all the time. It was great to finally meet Jacob in person."
WIBG is a South Jersey oldies station that plays the greatest hits from the '60s and '70s. The station can be heard locally on 94.3 FM and online at WIBG.com and through the TuneIn Radio App.
