Crowds jam Asbury Avenue in Ocean City NJ on May 2, 2015 for the Spring Block Party.
Tens of thousands of people filled a mile of downtown Asbury Avenue as great weather and Ocean City's annual Spring Block Party converged on Saturday.
The semi-annual block parties in Ocean City (the Fall Block Party is on Columbus Day Weekend) are always a big shoulder-season draw for visitors with more than 350 craft vendors and 100 downtown stores and restaurants setting up tables and tents on The Avenue.
But with unbroken sunshine and temperatures that topped out in the mid-60s, the turnout Saturday (May 2) was exceptional.
The block parties include live entertainment at different intersections between Fifth and 14th streets, food vendors, free pony rides for children on the Ocean City Tabernacle grounds and other entertainment.
The forecast for Sunday looks sunny again, and merchant table sales will continue on Asbury Avenue between Sixth and 14th streets and on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and Playland's Castaway Cove will be open for rides from
1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
