The rebuilt beaches between 40th and 42nd Streets are high and wide.
The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s
weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, May 1.
Dear Friends:
The south end beach replenishment project is continuing and Great Lakes is currently pumping sand near 44th Street beach, with the beach closed roughly between 43rd and 45th Street. The first phase of the project is already complete and the pipe has now switched to pump south toward 49th Street. Dune crossover work is ongoing at 37th and 38th streets. Remember, daily updates are provided on the Army Corps website: www.nap.usace.army.mil/GET and the City will continue to provide information at www.ocnj.us/beachfill.
I hope everyone takes the time Saturday to visit the city’s 32nd annual Spring Block Party from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the downtown. There will be over 350 Crafters, 100 specialty shops, restaurants, food vendors and live music. There will be free Block Party Parking from Bay Avenue to Wesley Avenue which includes City lots in that area. Along with the block party the Boardwalk Merchants will hold Table Sales all weekend.
Following the Block Party Saturday night, the Ocean City Talent Show will be held at the Music Pier at 7:30 p.m. Over 30 acts have already signed up, so it should be a great night of entertainment. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door, with proceeds benefitting the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company.
I would also like to remind everyone that we have a lot of road work ongoing. Please take your time driving and biking through town, and please be attentive to pedestrians.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
